Psychic Extremists and Extremism

Love this. Not just a problem in the tarot world, of course. Wiccans are never in the “correct” lineage, druids lack “historical continuity”, Western shamans, Buddhists, and Yoga practitioners are guilty of “cultural misappropriation”…

About Running Elk

My given native name, Running Elk, was bestowed in 2008 as I took my first steps as a fully fledged Medicine Man of the Zuni tradition. A most unlikely candidate for the role, my journey as a healer began some four years prior. The detour onto the shamanic way was most unexpected, yet has been one of the most rewarding challenges to date.

I love the latest “I’m offended” variant – “cultural misappropriation”.
    Really people???
We learn these things and embrace them from cultures that share and teach and celebrate the widening circle of respect. Sharing is what furthers understanding. With my family pedigree, I’m misappropriating nearly every culture and faith ever known!
(tongue a little in cheek here but only a little 🙂 )
